FATHER'S DAY
My dad was a good man. I always knew that but did not really know what all that meant until he passed away recently. He had integrity. He worked hard and provided for his family. His family meant everything to him. You can tell that by the pictures we have taken over the years. He loved his family. And we loved him. He took care of our mother when she was sick. He took care of his grand children. He spent time with them and truly cared. He loved his kids just as much and made sure we never wanted for anything. Some say this would be "spoiling" but this was not the case. We still had to prove ourselves but he made sure we had what we needed. He taught me how to swim in the lakes of Oklahoma. He taught me how to drive in the oilfields of Kansas. He taught me that family is important. I remember our favorite snack together. We loved to eat dill pickles, potato chips and pork and beans. It was a staple of life I think... ha. My dad taught me a lot but some of it I didn't really learn until he passed away. I learned that you take care of family no matter what. My friend told me the same thing but I never really got it I guess until dad died. I did take care of dad in his latter years. As best I could, I think, but I know there are lots of things I could or should have done better. But I am glad that I was able to do what I did do for him. It wasn't always easy but life isn't always easy. I was blessed to have such good parents. Lots of people don't have that. I did and am thankful for it. I have tried to be the same type of parent to my daughter as my parents were to me. I hope I can live up to their standards. I have a grandchild coming soon. I hope to be the same type of grandparent that my parents were to their grandchildren. Thanks Dad and Mom. You were the best. You taught us well.
I love you both and hope you are having a grand time together once again. I love you. Barb
